Welcome to Matawai School!
Our Year 1-8 rural school is nestled at the entrance to the rugged Waioeka Gorge, 70km inland from Gisborne. We may be remote but our school is part of a supportive and exciting agricultural community.
We are fortunate to have extensive grounds and play areas, a heated indoor swimming pool, state-of-the-art basketball court, a library, breakout spaces, and three classrooms - each with small class sizes, experienced teachers, and dedicated learning support assistants. Our school is a wonderful place to work and learn at!
To keep up to date with what's happening and to see what we've been learning about, please check out our Matawai School Facebook page.
For over one hundred years, Matawai School has stood proudly at the heart of our village. Come and see us today!
Ngā mihi,
